In recent years, Chunghwa Post has actively responded to the government’s policy for energy conservation and carbon reduction. With the full cooperation of the internal engineering technology unit and the energy management unit, we continue to promote various measures for energy conservation and carbon reduction, demonstrate feasible ways for low-carbon operations as a postal enterprise, encourage postal employees to make use of their professional expertise, use their creativity, and actively propose proposals and participate in national policy subsidy selection projects and benchmarking competitions to strive for subsidies, measurement certification and demonstration observations for energy-saving projects. The social image of high-quality postal services as a benchmark enterprise can be embodied through practical actions. In the future, Chunghwa Post will continue to improve energy conservation and carbon reduction work to gradually achieve the business goals of sustainable postal services and net-zero emission.
Taipei Daan Post Office participated in the competition of the 2023 Energy Saving Benchmark Award organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and won the silver medal. On November 29, 2023, the Award Ceremony for MOEA’s 2023 Energy Saving Benchmark Award was held in Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel, Taipei. In addition, Taipei Daan Post Office and the Head Office also participated in the selection of the Taipei City Net Zero Leadership Award. Taipei Daan Post Office won the Excellence Award (First Prize) in Group B of Industrial and Commercial Industry while the Head Office won the Exemplary Award in Group A of Industrial and Commercial Industry. Taipei City Government organized the Award Ceremony on September 25, 2023 in Taipei International Convention Center (TICC).
Taipei Daan Post Office started to promote various energy-saving measures from 2019, and it proved to be effective with the gradual reduction of the contracted capacity of the power system based on the actual power demand. The central chiller was replaced with the AI-based Variable Frequency Optimal Control System; the lighting has been comprehensively adopted LED lighting fixtures with the required illumination; the adjustment of elevator power management and control has been made; water-saving appliances have been installed; resources classification and recycling have been carried out; the plants are planted for greening the environment; the solar PV panels have been installed for power generation; electric vehicles have been adopted; ISO/CNS 50001 Energy Management System Installation and Verification have been completed; Taiwan-Japan transnational energy-saving technology exchange seminar was also organized. The above-mentioned measures demonstrated the long-term commitment to energy conservation and carbon reduction.
At the same time, Chunghwa Post is also devoted to various green innovative services, which not only enhance our customers’ awareness of energy conservation and carbon reduction, but also reduce operating costs and improve the competitiveness in sustainability issues. We can further practice green living in daily lives, actively respond to various indicators of green office, and jointly conserve energy and resources by implementing paperless and green procurement measures, creating an eco-friendly working space and motivating our employees to work in a green office. As of January 10, 2024, a total of 228 post offices have responded to Ministry of Environment’s Net-Zero Green Life- Responding to Green Office Campaign.
